Erri Embroidery

Feb 01, 2026

Erri embroidery, historically known as zardozi, arrived in Bengal during the Mughal era and soon became a hallmark of royal attire. Wrought with metal threads, beads, sequins, and stones, it transforms fabric into shimmering art. Neighborhoods like Narayanganj and Old Dhaka remain hubs of master artisans, keeping this ornate tradition alive. Today, Aarong is reimagining Erri, bringing it into cultural and traditional clothing, making it wearable while preserving its heritage. Through Aarong, a wide range of artisans are generating livelihoods, keeping generations of skill alive. Slow, deliberate, and endlessly intricate, Erri proves that true luxury is about craft, time, and the story each stitch carries.
