Nov 12, 2024

Aarong is proud to announce that its exquisite handcrafted nakshi kantha piece "Dance House," was selected as one of just seven unique crafts from 27 countries for the prestigious Miss International 2024 charity auction, held on November 5th in Tokyo, Japan. This remarkable creation, presented by Miss International Bangladesh, Nuzhat Tabassum Efa, was auctioned to raise funds for UNESCO, symbolising a moment of immense pride for Bangladesh on the global stage. The inclusion of Aarong’s artistry in this esteemed event highlights the international recognition of Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage.

For generations, Bangladeshi women have crafted nakshi kantha, weaving their unique stories and cultural heritage into each piece. This particular kantha explores the intricate relationship between nature, humanity, and earthly life, featuring geometric patterns inspired by the natural world. The upper half showcases aristocrats in conversation, flanked by peacocks and local motifs, while the lower section depicts vibrant dancers and trees of life, symbolising continuity. A striking chandelier and wave-like shapes suggest movement and the passage of time, while the harmonious palette of black, red, and maroon reflects the spectrum of human emotion. This masterpiece not only highlights the artist's technical skill but also elevates traditional craftsmanship, making it a treasured emblem of our rich heritage and the enduring spirit of women artisans.

Azra Mahmood, AMTC Chief, a proud licensee of Miss International Bangladesh 2024, and Efa extended their heartfelt gratitude to Aarong for its invaluable contribution in showcasing Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage to the world. This nakshi kantha not only highlights Aarong's dedication to preserving sustainable, handcrafted traditions but also stands as a proud testament to Bangladesh’s artistic legacy on the global stage.
