Aarong proudly collaborates with over 87,000 artisans from craft clusters across the country.

From potters and brass workers to jewellers, jute crafters, basket weavers, handloom and silk weavers, as well as wood, leather, and embroidery artisans, each plays a vital role in shaping Aarong’s legacy of craftsmanship. Our artisan supply chain spans the diverse regions of Bangladesh. Among them, nearly 27,000 skilled artisans are engaged through the Ayesha Abed Foundation (AAF), operating across a network of 15 production centres and more than 820 embroidery sub-centres. In addition, over 60,000 artisans work independently or within traditional family-based workshops, preserving generational knowledge and producing exclusive handcrafted pieces for Aarong.

Stories of our artisans

Aarong grew from BRAC’s mission to empower women in rural communities across Bangladesh. Aarong’s work with artisans came with an opportunity to earn an income in areas where employment opportunities were limited, especially for women.
